Facelift
What is Facelift?
Facelift
is a procedure performed to remove wrinkle skin and result in youthful
appearance. The skin begins to wrinkle and lose elasticity as we age,
by genetic, or environments. Skin-aging change differs in each tissue
and individual skincare. The changes in 2 facial parts that creates
aging appearance are;
1. The change of skin that causes wrinkles
and dark stains
2. The change of underlying tissues which
deepen the cheek creases and create jowls along the lower jawline.
The facelift not only improves your facial skin but also creates more
self-confident as well |

takes about 2 hours. The incisions are made above the ear, in front

Postoperative
Care
1. Lay down with head high to reduce swelling
2. Patient can wash his hair 2 days after the surgery
3. Sutures will be removed in 5 - 7 days
There is a new facelift technique which is currently very popular
in Japan by tightening underlying tissues called "SMAS"
(Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System). This technique is suitable
for oriental face, gives more natural appearance, and requires less
skin removal. Swelling and scar will be less. Patient is required
to stay in the hospital for only 1 - 2 days and can return to work
within a week.

Repeat
Facelift
Facelift can help reduce skin-aging
change but the extent of the enhancement will gradually diminish over
time. In some cases, repeat facelift may be required after 5 - 10
years.
The 2nd facelift will create the same scar but differ in detail. The
procedure is more complicated since firm layer developed after the
1st facelift and the facial fat layer is thinner.
Repeat facelift is normally used in older age group. Therefore it
requires more careful preparation. The postoperative care is same
as of the 1st operation.
In conclusion, repeat facelift is safe and gives the desired result
close to the 1st operation.

Forehead
Lift
Have you ever wondered how do wrinkles
appear on our forehead?
Wrinkling of the forehead is the earliest and most recognizable aspect
of facial agin Forehead Lift is a surgical
procedure to reduce wrinkles of the forehead. The procedure is performed
under general anesthesia or sedation. The surgeon makes an incision
at the hairline. Wrinkles are reduced or eliminated by removing the
underlying muscles which create them. The forehead skin is then tightened,
excess skin will be removed and close by suture.
Today endoscopic surgery is a new technique performed by making 4
- 5 small incisions and inserting the endoscope through the incisions
so that the surgeon will know exactly where the operation approach
since the underlying nerve system is very sensitive. The additional
advantage is it leaves minimal scar. The preparation and postoperative
care are the same as the facelift surgery

Drooping
of the eyebrows and "Crow's feet
The browlift procedure is usually started
with the evaluation of the progressive drooping. The procedure will
then be performed under local anesthesia, through an incision at the
hairline, which permits camouflage of the healing scars. The incision
is about 3 - 4 cm. long. The loosen skin and underlying muscles will
be tightened, excess skin and muscles will also be removed then close
with sutures. The procedure takes normally less than an hour. There
will be swelling in the operated areas which will be back to normal
within 1 - 2 weeks. If patient is scared of surgery, general anesthesia
and sedation will be applied. In this case, patient is required to
stay couple days in the hospital.
