Implant
materials used are patient's bone, Calcium-like materials such as
Hydroxyapatite, polymer, etc.
Silicone is popularly used for the malar plasty today. It can be easily
modified to the desired shape, removed, and has no danger for the
body. Calcium-like materials give better attach to the tissue than
silicone but difficult to modify and remove. Patient's bone is not
widely used since there will be scars on other parts of the body where
the implanted bones are removed.
